48 Hours in Hobart…

Following a recent work trip to Hobart; we have put together our favourite hot spots of this beautiful city, from what to see and do to where to eat. Autumn in Tassie is really something special.

With Jetstar offering $48 return flights to Hobart, there’s no excuse for a last minute getaway to the land of beautiful scenery, amazing food and good wine!

Tick off The Tourist Spots

The Royal Botanical Gardens- Dust off the cobwebs; wrap up warm, with a walk through these beautiful gardens, pack up a picnic and spend the day in the great outdoors; admire the vibrant bursts of colour, feeling totally grounded with nature.

Salamanca Place-  Pop into the shops, galleries, and bars along Salamanca, then explore historic Battery Point on the Sculpture Trail. (Check out the markets if you are here on a Saturday.)

Mona Gallery- Grab the ferry that departs from Brooke Street Pier, a must visit to experience the eclectic, odd, surprisingly delightful adventure. It will fuel your soulful, artistic journey. Not to mention there are amazing bars and restaurants onsite.

Travelling up to the top of Mount Wellington- The views from the summit are spectacular, and sunrise and sunset are absolute magic!

Bruny island- If you have a few more days to spare, then Bruny Island is the perfect place for a special weekend away.

Eat your way through the city…

Evolve MACQ1- The newly opened luxurious ‘story-telling’ hotel offering first class hospitality. Hot on the foodie scene, for its restaurant. But Evolve is also a great spot to relax in their velvet chairs with a glass of Tassie red taking in the views over Hobart Port.

The Glass House- This restaurant floats serenely at the end of the pier over scenic Sullivan’s Cove. Indulge in elegant cocktails and Tasmanian-inspired shared plates.

Cargo Bar Salamanca- Alfresco dining, wrap up warm, order a glass of your favourite red and enjoy the evening next to the fire pit at this hot spot.

Dier Makr- For the intimate bistro dining experience. This is sure one to add to your must-visit list. Seasonal menu with a refined cocktail menu, serving bar snacks to a six-course tasting menu.

Franklin- Housed in a heritage-listed building, the space is chic, this one is a real winner!
Templo- the ultimate date night location, small 20-seater restaurant. It might be hard to find, but it equally will be a hard one to forget.

Looking for a night cap? Head to Society on Salamanca, boasting Hobart’s largest spirit library.

Cafe hopping around the city experiencing the Tassie Coffee scene:

Born in Brunswick- A touch of Melbourne in North Hobart, serving industry beans coffee. Cool Scandinavia decor / vibes with a amazing brunch menu.

Pigeon Hole- With a menu to die for, this cafe gives our Sydney cafes a run for their money. Farm fresh- organic produce with its daily changing menu. A true paddock to plate experience.

Vilicia Coffee- A newish little cafe in the CBD roasting its own beans, a cute spot to watch the world go by!

Bear With Me– An old bakery which has been turned into a modern café which maintains a relaxed vibe, with a cracking brunch menu. Two words – Blueberry hotcakes!

Darci Darci- French passirie style cafe, amazing baked goods and cosy welcoming surroundings, it’s a yes from me.

Popular Annual Events- 

The wickedly epic Dark MofoFestival runs throughout the month of June.

The Taste of Tasmania celebrates Tasmanian food, produce, arts, culture and sporting activities.

Falls Festival- An annual Music & Arts festival held in Marion Bay, Tasmania each Summer.
